The Milford Fall Fair
Canada's Best Little Country Fair - Saturday September 16th 2023
Did you enjoy the Milford Fair last September? We are looking for new coordinators and volunteers!
The Fair has been a Milford tradition since it began in 1946, as a parade to welcome veterans back home. The tradition now faces some challenges as the Fair Board is saying farewell and thanks to several key volunteers who have served for many years and we are reaching out to you, our community, looking for people to step up to keep this tradition alive.
If you are interested, we are hoping you will join us on March 26th at 2pm at the Milford Town Hall. The Fair Board will be there to review the volunteer positions that need to be filled and what they entail and answer any questions you may have.
The level of commitment you take on will depend on whether you step into a coordinator position (one fair meeting a month – about 90 minutes, plus coordinating your task on your own time), or whether you'd prefer to volunteer for specific tasks around the time of the Fair.
Coordinator roles that need to be filled:
-Parking and Gate Coordinator
-Blitz and Prize Wagon Coordinator
-Media and Promotion Coordinator
-Food Booth Coordinator
-Kids and Games Activities Coordinator
Volunteers needed the week/day of the fair:
-On the day of the fair - judges for community submissions (# tbd)
-On the day of the fair to help run the kids activities/games (ie. Help kids build bird houses, paint pumpkins etc) (9 – 12 volunteers needed)
-On the day of the fair assist with running the chucking stuff games (3-4 volunteers needed)
-On the day of the fair assist with running the Bingo (1-2 volunteers needed)
-On the day of the fair, run the dog show (2 volunteers needed)
-On the day of the fair, help set up/organize/marshal the parade the day of (5 volunteers needed)
Week of the fair
-set up gates/fence/parking the day before the fair and take it down after the fair is over and help run gate during the day of the fair (15 volunteers needed)
-Week of the fair - set up tents the day before the fair and take it down the day of/day after (13 volunteers needed)
-Day of the fair - help set up prize wagon (3 volunteers needed)
-In the months leading up to the fair - help with blitz/getting prizes and donations for the fair (5-10 volunteers needed)
We strongly urge community members to consider volunteering – with the ranks of previous volunteers having been reduced, it's essential that the Fair Board recruit new members if the Fall Fair tradition is to be maintained.
If you'd like to learn more, please reach out via milfordfallfair@gmail.com or join us at town hall on March 26th at 2pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!
